The Brian's Sub-Zero goalie pad has a revolutionary design and is by far the lightest pro goalie pad on the market today. With an amazing weight to balance ratio, the Brian's Sub-Zero pad will redefine how goalie pads are made in the future.The Brians Pro Stock/Zero G last year was the lightest pad on the market at 5.2 to 5.4 pounds per pad; now the Brian's Sub-Zero comes in at an amazing 4.4 to 4.6 pounds per pad. Some may think this will sacrifice performance and durability but nothing could be further from the truth. Brian's uses pre-engineered foam that is not only lighter and better balanced but more durable then foams used by many leading competitors. Nothing can compare to how Brian's builds the Sub-Zero pad at the weight/balance vs. performance ratio. The Brian's Sub-Zero uses pre-engineered, high density foams which allows the pad to be the lightest on the market and also the best pre-shaped pad on the market. The Sub-Zero uses only one break in the vertical roll. This vertical roll is a triangular shape which helps control rebounds. The pre-engineered, pre-curved foam allows the pad to naturally hold its "s" shape and keep this shape. Foam always wants to take it's original shape, so the foam being pre-curved will always force the pad back to the "s" shape that seals the five hole. Another very unique characteristic of this pad is the strapping system. The Brian's Sub-Zero pad uses a velcro system for strapping the pad on the goalies leg. Since most goalies do not tighten the leather straps on the pads and allow then to hang loose, the leather straps are not very functional and do create extra weight. The Sub-Zero's velcro strapping system is placed in areas that keep the pad on the goalies leg in a way that is consistent to the feel of having the leather straps. The elastic is more comfortable and more forgiving then traditional leather straps. The pre-engineered/pre-curved nature of this pad eliminates the need for the top straps. The top straps on a pad in the past were placed there to pull the pad back into a "s" shape when a goalie went down. Since the pad is pre-curved, there is no need for this feature. There is one traditional leather boot strap that runs under the goalies skate. The Sub-Zero pad also has full wrap around calf and leg protection. This along with the strapping system protect the leg and allow the pads to properly rotate when sakting and also going into the butterfly position.
